Sonnet: Wandering Voices

I found a place that spoke in silent calm–
A shadowed dream infallible and sweet.
I walked alone to quiet my alarm,
And found I could no longer move my feet.
Too tight this sentiment gripped my torn heart,
And air abundant burned inside my chest.
I screamed until my throat was torn apart:
I only wanted peace! I wanted rest!
But no, a voice was whispering within,
Into this blessed place you cannot tread.
The walls around your heart have grown too thin,
Fatigued you wander farther from your bed.
I asked when I could enter there and sleep.
It answered, only when your hopes grow deep.
